Newly Father Jason

Today, we went to see the ordination of 44 deacons (now priests). We set off at seven, all dressed up in our Sunday best. we got to the church (Saint John Lateran); it was standing room only. And this is not a small church. We wandered around looking for seats, when Brother John found us. He, being as sweet as he is, had brought us some programs (literally books, they were 117 pages long and trilingual) and the homily translated. And, Brother John remembered all of our names, and matched them with the right people! It has been almost two years since he last saw us. We talked for a little bit, and then the Mass was starting (sort of. Everyone was getting tense and waiting) so we stood in the back (Jeremy and Mummy sat down in two spots that they had managed to nab). During the processional hymn,  James and I managed to get seats. Shortly after, the seat next to Mummy became available, so Ashley sat down. Eleanor stood the ENTIRE THREE HOURS (despite my requests). The Mass was absolutely lovely. We saw (now) Father Jason and his brother (now) Father Peter being ordained in the same Mass (which was really neat). And after Mass we looked for Brother John, Father Peter and Father Jason, but we had to go because our taxi and our father were waiting. We went out to lunch and we drove back. We just arrived about thirty minutes ago and it is five fifteen. That is all for me, but Mummy is adding some pictures below.
Ciao,
Florence

Florence didn't mention the band.  They were from the north, and had the most delightful costumes!  I inserted the videos first, and then the photos.  Enjoy!

Love,
Alexandra

The baldachino -- isn't it gorgeous?

A closer view -- all without flash, hence the blur (sorry!)

This was the crowd an HOUR before the Mass was to start!

Welcome Deacon Jason!

Welcome Deacon Peter!

The floors are lovely

A closeup to give you a better feel

This band came from a region of northern Italy and wore the cutest uniforms ever --  the men's hats had the most amazing feathers on them!

You can only sort-of see the feathers, but I'd imagine you get the effect

Goodbye Father Jason!

On the way home...

Don't they look uncomfortable, poor things?
