On Sunday, I went to a gara in the woods. It was quite a bit of fun, even if I did break four arrows within the first five targets. Fortunately, those were the only ones that I broke. The targets were all sorts animals, to go with the whole hunting theme, and a good number of the archers wore camouflage just for the fun of it.
The targets were REALLY hard. The first target we shot at, apart from being at the way bottom of a slippery almost cliff, involved standing on two blocks of wood (which might have been spaced a little better if I were a little taller; the guy who set them up has rather long legs) and then we had to shoot at one target directly in front of us, and one target directly behind us. Now if you've ever shot, you know that the target is supposed to be to your left if you are right handed and vice versa. To make the target even harder, you had to complete both shots within 20 seconds. Then we got to move on to another target, a small crane. We got two shots, from two different angles, which means you can't really adjust your aim.
A lot of targets were hard because they were really far uphill or really far downhill. One target was a mountain goat, and it was on the top of a mountain. I hit it with the first two arrows. With the third I hit a rock. The explosion was quite spectacular!
Another memorable target was a wild boar. Not just any old wild boar target, but one attached to a pulley system I managed to hit between the iron bar that was holding up the boar and the rope that it was sliding on. I blocked the rope and Matteo had to go down and retrieve my broken arrow before we could finish the round.
One target was really fun, mostly because it was really far away: more or less 110 meters, about 360 feet. There was a flag in the middle of a field and two rings around the flag, which separated how many points you got. I managed to get four (of the five I shot) within two feet of each other. That is quite a feat given that to get my arrows that far, I had to shoot almost straight up into the air.
Some of the targets had other animals in the vicinity and you had to avoid hitting the other animals. If you hit the extra "targets"you got a score of -5. One of them involved two deer and you couldn't hit one of them because "it's pregnant."
I'll add some photos, courtesy of Facebook.

See that white thing in the centre right? That's the target |

The target is in the far right. See it? yeah. We got to some shooting points and were left looking around for the target. |

Some people got negative five points here. This is the pregnant deer. |

This rabbit was swinging back and forth on a pendulum |

This was the long shot |

The angle on these arrows can tell you a bit about how far downhill we were shooting. It was a good 30/35 meter shot |
