We said goodbye to Grace with mutual assurances that she would be returning (as soon as possible, Grace!), and then it was time to get ready for Jim and Sharon...who were arriving a day later! Never a dull moment.
The day of their arrival coincided with a wine tasting event in the Piazza (and other locations around town). Since they had just got off the plane, we didn't think we needed to spend all afternoon drinking, but we did have a leisurely dinner at home and then went to the "Nido dell'Aquila" ("Eagle's Nest", a piazza in a former convent which overlooks the valley) for prosecco tasting. Ten euros meant we could taste 5 different kinds of prosecco while enjoying a fabulous view and listening to the soft jazz which started up a bit later in the evening. (We have these photos courtesy of Jim; thank you, Jim!)
