I'm trying not to bore you, but...my car is so incredibly cute, I can't get over it!
Here it is next to a SmartCar:
It is such a little toy! And did I tell you that you have to put oil into the gas tank as well? Michael & I were speculating as to whether it was an additive related to the fact that the car was originally designed to run on leaded, since there is a separate oil gauge. I asked the fellow at the gas station to check the oil for me after he had filled it, pointing out the fact that there is said gauge. He asked if the light had gone on. When I replied in the negative, he shrugged and said, "Well, it's fine then."
Love,
Alexandra
You could bring it back in your suitcase!

Yes, we've joked about putting it my pocket...but I think its top speed of 40 mph won't really cut it in the States...it really prefers to go about 20. The scale & speed are perfect for here, but can you imagine it next to an Explorer?
DeleteGood morning my littlest darling....has the thought ever struck you that your jewel may be a 2 stroke engine similar to a lawn-mower. The early DKW (German) cars in the early 60's had the same requirement i.e. oil in the gas.
ReplyDeleteThis is WAY before your husband even thought of cars so that thought may not have crossed his otherwise clued up mind!! Your ever loving father Oldie
I looked at the bottle and the additive did turn out to be a replacement for lead, but at first I thought exactly as you did! I cannot wait until you come...your head will probably stick out above the sunroof!
DeleteFrank pointed at a car the other day and said that one is like Alexandra's. It was NOT as pretty and I'm sure it didn't have the same gas/oil features. I think you have the only "one-of-a-kind car".
ReplyDeleteIf I could fit in, my knees would be up to my chin! Have you been taking Yoga?
