The other night, I went to an archery competition in Valfabricca. Mauro invited me, and I, after a small debate, accepted. This was a very informal competition, no costume, no need for anything fancy. The archery competition was due to start at four, so we left at 2:30. We got there at about 3:30. We started at five o'clock. Until then, we hung out and the chefs made dinner. When we finally got our act together, and grouped together, we started with a long shot, my guess is 25 meters. Then we walked up a hill and shot at something that was eye level. I hit the bulls-eye! Then we traipsed around, shooting at various targets: ones that moved, ones that didn't, big ones, small ones, easy ones, and hard ones. One of the targets involved shooting a little diamond out of the way before trying to shoot a raw egg! Those who missed it wished that they had hit it, and those who hit it wished that they hadn't. I didn't hit the egg. I had a good time, even if I didn't do all that well. There were 14 targets, all in all, and I managed to hit a fair number of them. My total score was 115 points, which was not the worst score there! Unfortunately, I lost one of my arrows while shooting a long shot during warm up. After everyone was done shooting we sat down to dinner, which was good- not as good as the lamb that I had with my archery group, but still good. Mauro, Matteo (not Lucaroni, another one my age) and I left early, at about 11:30!
All in all, a good night!
Ciao,
Florence
