Bitterballen in Bruges

Saturday, we went to spend the day with Eleanor and Grace in Bruges, or Brugge. Several people had told us that Bruges was a must-see, and they were completely right. What a chocolate box of a town! We had the chance to see the lace museum, eat Belgian fries from a paper cone (with mayonnaise, of course), enjoy a real tea shop, see chuches and their treasures, and...eat bitterballen! These are a Dutch snack food that are an instant coronary...think meat-based goo breaded and deep fried until seriously crunchy and delectable. Mmmmmmm.

Jeremy and Eleanor had the pleasure of climbing in the belfry. The rest of us went looking for a restroom, did a little window shopping, and then waited...all this interspersed with bitter texts from Eleanor about the mooning couple in front of them. Apparently they really just needed to get a room rather than sharing their great love with everyone. We were in stitches with her frequent updates.

We got to the station just in time to miss the train back, but they go frequently, so it was a short wait.

A little relaxation, a little school work, and bed!

Love,

Alexandra
