Outside dining area, facing west |
I called today to excuse myself to the headwaiter, whose name turned out to be Mauro. He laughed, said he'd wondered what had happened to us, and he had our copy of the history waiting for me whenever.

The restaurant to the left, the castle ahead |
Michael and I set off around 6:30 this evening, and arrived to find all sorts of cars and people milling around (all dressed up) and concluded that we were about to crash a wedding.
Nothing daunted (truly, it looked early), we wandered around looking for Mauro. During our quest, I saw it: an open archway off of the main dining room...leading into a dark tunnel!
|
Tunnel! |
Yes, we found Mauro. I apologized for gate crashing, and he begged us to make free with the building...explore, enjoy!
I am NOT one to refuse an invitation like that.
|
Cantina! |
We went through the tunnel, which eventually led into a cantina belonging to a different building. The cantina was all decked out for the reception, with canapes, cold cuts, and other appetizers. Yum! Up some steps, into an inner courtyard, through the next door into a huge garden!
|
Up steps... |
|
...then the courtyard |
|
And the garden! |
Not wanting to intrude, we withdrew without more than a peek into the garden.
However, it turned out that our "mistake" of leaving without our history actually turned into a special treat!
|
This is the alternate entry to the courtyard |
On the way home, we saw the bride having her picture taken in a nearby field.

Local field |
Love,
Alexandra
