Presepi found!

Florence and I decided to go to an exhibition of presepi at a nearby town, Massa Martana. It was an absolutely charming mix of divinely inspired and silly...sometimes even in the same creation! As we wandered around eating popcorn and roasted chestnuts respectively, we went into little shopfronts that held presepi from different regions of Italy. Such fun! I offer you but a small sampling for your viewing pleasure.

This one made us think of Michael and his SAT prep book!

Nearly life size!

Made of ice, these were slightly smaller than life-size
(Florence is well in front of them, but offers some scale)

I thought the donkeys were nifty

No town would be complete without laundry hanging to dry.

And we had the treat of a gorgeous sunset all the way home!

Santas keeping fit

The day after Christmas was the ideal time for a fun run, according to Michael's running group. They met at the relatively decent hour of 9 to enjoy leftover panettone and prosecco together, before zipping (okay, trotting...and trotting slowly) up to the piazza, stopping frequently along the way for photos.

Jeremy and I, meanwhile, hung out in the piazza drinking coffee and waiting for the runners to show up. Meanwhile, we enjoyed watching this little boy in his new car.

And here they are!

The Three Kings en route

Jesus is in his manger, the inhabitants approach, and in the distance, the kings are on their way!
