One of the best things about Todi is the food.
The typical way to start the day is with a cup of yogurt (your choice of cherry, peach & apricot, chocolate chip with real chocolate, strawberry, coffee, vanilla or plain). Then you proceed to pour on granola with chocolate (in the summer it is melted chocolate). Once you have finished, if you are still hungry, you pull a croissant out of the cupboard, and slather it in nuttella.
For lunch you can have a variety of food. My favorite is either Massimo's pizza or a plate of various meats, cheeses and breads. You can also have pasta or gnocchi (but it gets rather hot if you do). Leftovers are always there as well as a wide variety of fruit (melon, peaches, apples, apricots, plums, white peaches, and white plums are just a few). Another popular lunch (even if it is wasted on me) is a tomato or two with salt, pepper and olive oil poured generously on top.
Dinner can be almost anything. Our favorites are pizza, pasta, caprese and the plates of meat and cheeses mentioned earlier. If you aren't turning green with envy yet, I can explain the gelato in full in a later post.
Ciao,
Fiorella
Since Pete and my other Italian neighbors in Maryland introduced me to the delights of aged cheeses and salami and fresh bread and fruits, it has remained my favorite and seldom tasted lunch. Oh the challenges of living in the hinterlands of the colonies.
