After dinner tonight (which was late even by Italian standards), we went down to the main piazza to attend a jazz concert. There were scads of people, and it was technically standing room only. However, there were many sitting in the outdoor seats of the adjacent cafe, and many of the rest of us ended up on the steps of the Duomo -- a perfect vantage point! The weather was perfect; it has cooled off considerably from earlier this week. We even had a nice breeze!
We saw Albina, our neighbor, almost laughing out loud during one of the drummer's licks. During this concert, which was nearly two hours long, the little ones of the city had a banner time running around like schools of fish. They were very entertaining in and of themselves.
After the concert, Jeremy approached the bassist, and managed to get onstage with the much-coveted instrument. He was even allowed to play it for a few minutes!
Now we're home and it's time for bed. Mass will be at San Fortunato, which is an unusual circumstance; it's something to do with a saint's feast day, but I didn't quite understand the announcement completely. We're all planning to go to the pool in the afternoon tomorrow, which means no nap! Argh!
Love,
Alexandra
